Bobby's Perfect Frog Weight

Featured Replies

I was using a Bobby's Perfect Frog a couple days ago and noticed I lost the weight in the frog. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before or see it happen? Is there anyway to get a new weight or replace it with something else?

When I use that frog on grass mats, sometimes I replace the leg strings with small lead bullet weights. That way the extra weight has more effect on the mat and lets the fish know something is above them. I also add external rattles to make it even more obvious.

I don't put any objects inside the body because I don't want complete body compression to be hindered so I get postiive hookups.

A few years ago Bobbys perfect frog was my go to frog, they would last and last and last. But sometime in the last 2 years they started falling apart on me, some times only after a few casts, let alone a fish. The weight falling out was the #1 problem, I contacted Snag Proof, they requested I send them back all my defective ones , which I did, and to there credit replaced them all. But they didn't last either.

It don't matter now. I am a Spro man, for several reasons, including SP's poor quality.

What I would do is call Connie at Snag Proof! They are good people and they back there product. I am sure they will take care of your problem!

Every frog I've used has had one problem or the other. I personally would rather a weight fall out here and there, then a frog that doesn't decompress as well causing lost fish and a poor hook up ratio.

You'll notice the weight loose before it fully falls out. For a short time I was having them fall out every few trips, I haven't had one fall out in over a year. During the time I was having issues, I used to add a drop of super glue and never had a problem after that. Now... I don't use anything and haven't had a single issue.

Does anyone else actually use any of Snag Proof's other prroducts?

Oh yea! Those phat frogs walk on a dime. They're amazing. I dont miss alot of fish and in most of them the hook is so well locked in that its a struggle to get it out because the hooks are placed further back. Somehow it just cuts through the skin and bone and i havent had a skin hooked one yet in dozens of frogfish. Weirdly enough most of them are hooked on the bottom jaw. Plus they dont sink unless a fish crushes it and it fills up with water since the hook is sealed off from the main body.

I used to use the heck outta the Wiggle Wog when I was younger.  I don't know why I stopped throwing it.  I still have a few left.  That thing was sick.

Wayne - I'm diggin that mod you do to the frog.  I'm gonna have to try that!

i would consider my self a frog conniseur (sp.?) and my go to frog is a boze sumo hands down! i have used snag proof, spro, tru tungsten, bps....ect..... the boze holds up great has a SUPER soft body and is probably the highest strike to hook ratio of any frog i have fished PERIOD! i have yet to lose a weight out of one of the boze frog either. i do however use the spro pop frogs when im fishing sparse cover and they do great but dont hold up as well.
