Ive seen pics in magazines of cranks were they have a little weight hanging from the front and sometimes back split ring.....Does this effect anything other than the weight?? also what are they called where do i get them? thanks guys

It affects the bouyancy, but sticcking a weigth to the belly of the bait you turn a floating bait into a slow rising or neutral bouyancy ( suspending ) when you need to. Storm manufactures self adhering lead strips and lead dots for that purpose ( Suspend strips/ suspend dots ).

Go to Bass Pro and look around in the weights section.  There are quite a few ways to add weight to cranks.   There are plusses and minuses to each method.

Suspendots and strips are good products to help slow the rise of your cranks or get them to suspend. It's pretty tough to get a very buoyant bait to suspend though, you need a lot of dots or strips. But baits that rise a little slower are easy to turn into full suspenders with these.
