I tried to use the Sweet Beaver this weekend having lots of confidence in this bait, but when I got to the lake, I couldn't catch a fish it with. I was having some issues with the line twisting a lot and the bait rolling over/doing 360s in the water.

I was fishing a * Beaver weightless on a 3/0 EWG Gammy on 10 mono. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I did some research and people seem to be fishing them weightless no problem.

Try an Owner Twist Loc hook...I have no problems throwing the sweet beavers..

Positioning on the hook perfectly straight would be the most obvious reason. Also if the trailing tails or side flappers are crooked due to deformation they might spin. Another thing to consider is bowing the belly of the beaver downward similar to the rigging on a Toad to keep it running upright. If your weight is pegged, it could cause the center point to be off and a weight stopper would correct that...One of these will probably help you out
