rootbeer?

Featured Replies

I keep hearing a lot locally about using a rootbeer jig & pig in most of the lakes.  The only problem is that I can't really get an answer on what color rootbeer actually is.

When I think of rootbeer I think of a very dark brown, almost cola colored.  Yet I was talking to a pretty knowledgable guy yesterday who said that it was more green than brown.

So what is it?  I can't seem to find any rootbeer colored jigs in any catalog or even in the local tackle shops.

Correct.  Rootbeer soda is brown, and the color Rootbeer in the tackle world is more green than brown.  I have no idea why  :(

Haven't seen the rootbeer color you are talking about Burley. If I'm picturing it right, it almost sounds like green pumpkin (might be the reason my wife never lets me pick paint colors :()...

Kinda like Watermelon and green pumpkin.

Great colors but they don't like watermelon or pumpkin to me.

rootbeer senkos with green and red flake - KILLER color!

Rootbeer is pumkin green flake.Zoom makes Gourd Green, which is the same,Netbait calls the color rootbeer as far as trailers. The jig skirt will look like a light transparent brown with green flakes in it.

Thanks CJ. Sounded like a great color until you said pumpkin (maybe the green flakes would make a difference). I really like baby brush hogs in green pumpkin. On a day when the fish were hitting that I switched over to pumpkin to give it a try. IMHO on those days or any other I just haven't had the bite on pumpkin...
