Shakey Head Craws

Had any one ever used the 4 inch Berkley chigger craw on a Shakey head? If so can I know about your success

  • Super User

i much prefer the baby rage craw on a shakey head for small mouth fishing. i have used the chigger craw and did not like it.

No I have not, I'm not a fan of the chigger. But I have used a 4" hand poured craw worm similar to a paca craw on a shakey head and did real well. I would say under the right circumstances a heavier shakeyhead and a chigger would work very well.

I just noticed this was in the smallie section. When I fished the shakey head/craw I was targeting largemouth but I did catch a few smallies on it. I would say it would work pretty good for smallies in rocks. But if I was going to target smallies with a chigger it would be on a rage rig. Give it a try... it's one of my favorite ways to fish a craw. It's just a weighed shank EWG hook and a craw. Drag it along the bottom and it will look very natural.

I recently introduced my buddy to the shaky head, and he using almost for anything now. He really likes using the Berkley chigger craw with a lot of success! When he first done it I wanted to tell him that not what it is for, but kept my mouth shut and he started catching fish. I would give it a shot if I was you. I havnt just yet but it is only a matter of time.

i like to use the power team lures 3.5'' craw dourve on a shakey head, works wonders on smallmouth here in wa state, i just skin hook it, wait for the bite and lay into them. i really like to fish it around rocks, because it stands up soo much better than a t-rig.
