Why Polarized Sun Glasses??????

Recommended Posts

I watch behind my lures when I can see them most of the time.  I look for short strikes or the fish making practice runs at my lures.  Polarized sun glasses are as important as my rod and reel is.

There is a Bill Dance video on fly fishing for bass.  He is in a smaller boat and you can see the short strikes on the video but he can't see them.

When you catch a bass watch the water around it. I see bigger bass swimming by most of the time. I call these ghost bass because we hardly ever see them. Having these glasses does help.

Even a cheap pair of these polarized glasses at Wal-Mart of from eBay

will work. Watch for sales.

Not wearing polarized glasses is like going hunting with no bullets.

I wear my favorite hat, glasses when I go fishing.

For at night the Amber colored glasses brighten up the darkness and cut down the glare from on coming headlites on a motorcycle it could

Save your life having better vision.

I wear my sun glasses a lot. I couldn't imagine trying to fish without my polarized glasses. I see so much better with them.

I can't even imagine fishing without my polarized glasses. My back pair of sunglasses are polarized. That's how serious I am about my eyewear. I get a kick when people come by to see me fish sometimes and they ask if those are those special "fishing glasses". I show them the special glasses and their mouths drop. I converted a buddy of mine who doesn't even fish. He would always question what the big deal was with these glasses until I let him try on my pair. From that day on every pair of sunglasses he owns have to be polarized.

Two pair in my backpack at all times. A grey lens and a dark lens. Can't fish without them, I may need to check into the amber.

If you have a prescription you can take your prescription to a sunglasses retailer and they will tell you if their lens can be crafted into your prescription. If so, you can have outstanding colors for bass fishing and be able to see at the same time.

I know my Bass Pro Shop, the local eye hospital and Oakley will do this for you.

I use my prescription polarized sunglasses all the time and am planning to get a new pair later this year with my new eyeglasses prescription.

I agree with most everything said here. There are times though when I've found that I like to look at the water without the sunglasses on. One example is fishing larger rivers for smallies/walleye when the water is a bit turbid. I find that I am better able to read the boils and water sometimes when I can see the glare of the sun on the surface of the water. It adds a bit of depth and definition so that I can more easily deduce the size of the rock/obstruction that's creating an eddy and also approximately how far upstream it is. Even on days like this I wear the polarized glasses a majority of the time, however.

I use my polarized glasses from time to time. For the price my strike king s11 are perfect. I'm sure a lot more expensive ones may be better but I'm not sure how much better they really get.

X2

I won a pair of those glasses in a drawing.  Never win anything but I sure hit the jackpot there.  It's hard to believe that they can be so much better than anything else.

I went out fishing with my dad in his boat this past week.  I still had all my gear bundled up in a non-boater package from when I fished with ww2farmer.  Got out on the water and realized THE ONLY thing I took out of my tackle bag was my prescription polarized sunglasses.  CRAP!!    That was the first day in a LONG time that I have fished without them.  It was a pitching to weed pockets day also, to make it that much worse.

I do a ritual when I get dressed for fishing and load the car with my tackle everything has to be perfect or I can't fish. I'm sorry that's me. If I forget something the trip is over. Maybe that's my confidence.

x2 ... I own 2 pair.  One is their amber color and the grey ones.  Love them.

Worth noting that I was fortunate to try a few high end glasses with boaters who used them.   I saw the difference it made against my old (pre S11's) glasses.  For the price I decided to buy the grey S11's and they worked as good as the higher end priced one IMO.  I quickly got the other ones.  For the price of one of these higher end glasses you can get 2, sometimes 3 pairs of the S11's.
