This isn't exactly a big smallie, but it was the biggest one that I caught since the drought last year in the Milwaukee River.

 

This one was a very close contender for the day, but it fought like there was no tomorrow and it was making my drag scream! 

 

 

I caught them both with a Rapala Husky jerk in silver. I would usually have been fly fishing for them, but my fly rod's tip is broken now.

I use mostly clouser minnows, sneaky petes, and brown conehead wooly buggers

Fine looking bass. Congrats! River smallies are some really tough brutes...and an awful lot of fun to boot.

I'm making a tri for river smallies this weekend, can't wait!
