Here in NC and the surrounding states we've had about 2 weeks straight of rain. Thinking about going fishing tomorrow. If so, what are this fish doing. Sticking to cover on the banks? Or still going deep since its summer. Should I slow down my approach, and what should I and others be using? Litttle help?

I read some fishing reports on Lake wylie and it said that the fish are scattered shallow in the coves. This is pretty common I think cause last time it rained a lot, the reports were very similar.

If the water is high i would fish the new water. Thats just my opinion but fish seem to love new water.

Yeah its been crazy how much rain we have gotten in the last month. Went to the local park this morning and this evening and caught 8 total. All where very small fish. All caught on soft plastics and finesse jigs. Good news is no rain  for next week but highs in the mid 90's.

Been biting like crazy here in TN. The local lake is swollen at least 8-10 feet in the banks. The fish have moved in and are hittin right on the bank line.

Just got skunked at my hot spot. The area i fish is a runoff/lake from the Grand River, and the river has been going down and this spot has felt the effects. Spot I usually catch hogs in gave nothing today. Frustrated..

I hooked into two bass on a chartreuse and white chatterbait fishing the new water from the rain we've been getting

I live in NC also. Im not sure about lakes, but I fish fairly large ponds and have been slaying 3-4# fish after the rains in the evenings. I jig and throw buzz baits parallel with the bank line, maybe three feet off it. Theyve been bustin em. I say go for it.

It's rainy season in South Florida and it rains nearly every day.  Up until a few days ago there was ample water in the canals, the canals quite often are controlled due to an expected storm.  Now there is very little water in my canals, I'm not really bothering fishing them.  The ponds here are lowering too, despite the daily rain it cannot keep up with evaporation, but low water in ponds sometime can be a very good thing.

I am lost too!! I am sick of the rain!! I was in the middle of the lake today when the bottom fell out and my mom happened to be in the boat and was sitting on my front deck with an umbrella yelling at me cause she was getting wet!

I was on Lake Norman this weekend on the upper side near between Mooresville and Troutman and my buddy and I hit the water Saturday morning on the kayaks.  We found the fish to be scattered around the coves.  Anywhere from 3-10 feet of water with most of them in the 3-5 feet of water range.  When we got there all we could see was topwater action so we pulled out the buzzbait and pop-r and had some pretty decent luck.  The hollow body frog was working as was the pumpkin seed trick worm and the 4" jerkbaits were lively too.  Honestly it had to be one of the best days I've had on Norman.  I've since moved to Georgia, but can't remember a more happening day on the lake than this past Saturday.  Oh, and it rained about an hour while we were on the lake and we caught 2 nice fish (3 pounders wish are nice fish in my experience on Lake Norman) during that hour of rain.  Long Long story short, get out there.

buzzfrog, where do you fish from the shore on Norman?  You ever thought about a kayak?  I used to fish from the shore and then got a kayak to fish in and I absolutely love it.....

not big on kayaks, well, I am a big dude, my buddies all go and float, I occasionally go to Norman in a boat, last time we was boarding 77 and fishing right against the road and actually was catching them on cranks. I fish sometimes in the troutman park and forgot which put in but one along 150.

same here, it has been raining steadily since sunday, and i plan on going this sunday... its expected to rain all week as well...

 

so, cranks/spinnerbaits along the shore, or worms on the 15-20´ of water??

I was actually considering doing that a little while ago. Where do you "put it" the kayak? It would be a long drive for me, but it sounds like it would be worth it!

thanks for the feedback guys. It's been dry for the most part this week here in Fayetteville so not sure if it's a good a idea to hit the lake again this sunday or not. Hopefully it's good fishing now that the fish have adjusted and moved back deep. Again thanks for the adv.

TWMstr you may watch the forecast and if there's rain in the forecast get out before the rain hits.  I was watching some videos from KVD and he was talking about the bite being on a lot of times right before the rain
