That's a fine bass, Mitch.

May I suggest a swivel about 12" above your hook to avoid line twist?

Will...I am open to your suggestion....I really don't get alot of line twist...my line is old and needs change that's why it looks a little kinked......I will try it though....thanks....

Good looking fish!

Thats a great looking fish. My first cast ever with a drop shot landed me a nice one. I like the DS rig a lot.

Mitch, I know you saw my post on the local report forum, but I'll repost it here, in case it helps anyone else. ;)

Nice fish.

Just a quick tip. I use InvisX 6# line on my drop shot rigs. It's three years old now, without respooling. The oldest spool was recently replaced with 6# Tatsu. Yes, both lines are pricey, but givent the longevity, it's more than worth it. Tatsu is only incrememntally better than Invisx, so that's what I recommend, since it's 1/2 the price of Tatsu. As with all lines, I pretreat with a squirt of KVD L&L the night before any trip. To remedy line twist, troll out the first 30 yards or so of line, on your way back to the launch site. Then reel back in under pressure of your thumb and for finger. And forget the swivel - too many knots, and it's a pain.

Nice fish ... I am finding more and more excuses why to have it rigged on.  I went through numerous drop shot setup's until I came across one which I love.  Here's what I use.

10lb Braid with an 8lb InvizX leader.  Tied with a Double Uni Knot.

1/0 EWG hook

3/16 weight

Right now I throw a bunch of finesse worms.  Zoom, Strike King and Roboworm.

Caught me 3 great fish at my tournament last weekend.  Keep at it.  The drop shot rocks!

Been using a swivel past 3 trips....John , you were right....pain in the a$$ to retie and only in the short times I tried a swivel, seemed like the fish may sense it as i didn't get too many as compared to last year this time, same general area...it did help w/ twist but not sure yet if the tradeoff is worth it.....gonna try 6lb fluoro this weekend.........Of course, the fish prob. moved but in areas where there WERE fish, it was few and far between compared to w/o  a swivel last year....Thanks everyone for their input...always looking to improve.

can I ask you ... why that long distance between the worm and the weight? It doesnt look like its a very clear pond.

edit: I dont mean to tell you to change it because its clearly working, I just want to know your reasons

when I pop it of the bottom it's @ 2 feet off the bottom........most of the time I have it @ 12-16 inches.....pretty much right off bottom
