Treble Hook ?

Featured Replies

I have a few cranks that need new trebles. I saw some kvd trebles at Wal-Mart and wondered if they were any good, or should I stick with the trusted Owner or Gammy? Thanks.

If you decide to replace the hooks, be sure to get the right size. If not, the new hooks will affect the action of the lure.

in the thread linked above, ww2farmer pretty much nailed it.

Yes Brian.  That was my comment on the thread.  Without looking, I don't know if ww2farmer stated what hooks for the 10xd.  I did some study and what I found on searches other than this site is to use size 1 hooks on those.  They stated the 1/0 was to big.  I didn't throw my 10xd's Sunday because I couldn't find the hooks I wanted.  I will definitely use them in next months tourny.

I don't think he did, cause he had not use the 10xd yet.

wonder how a 1/0 on front and 1 on back go over on the 10xd?

It wouldn't hurt to try.  A mod in another forum on a site that sells them stated what I said above.  He did say there was a big difference from a size 1 to a 1/0.  I have read where pros will up their sizes if it doesn't deter the action.

Granted I never fished my 10XD with the stock hooks to see the exact action but I've been using 3/0 ST-36 trebles on mine with no noticeable problems. What you guys said has me thinking though, I guess I'll just have to go down a few sizes and see what happens.
