A Front?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, headed out to fish in a couple hours. The weather has been 90+ the last week and now yesterday and today its 70. Is this what you guys talk about when you say a front? Like cold front? Any tips on what the bass should be doing or is it mostly the same? Thanks a lot guys

I think depending on how big the water you are going to be fishing will impact on how the temperature changes the water.  I'm going to be out later on today as well and would like to know if anyone has any input.  I'm going to be throwing a variety of baits (flukes, senkos, buzz baits, jigs and spinner baits) and hopefully I get a fish on sooner than later...:)

That change in temperature was probably the result of a cold front. A cold front is the leading edge of an advancing air mass that is colder than the air it will replace.

The important factors are cloud cover verses bright clear windy weather. Air temperature changes alone have little affect on water temperature or the bass unless the temperature stays cold and windy for several days.

Thanks guys, the water still felt steaming hot and the fish were sure biting. Caught some nice ones

That cold same front came through here last night, with dropping barometric pressure. Dropped air temps today considerably too. Cloudy & breezy today. Tomorrow the sun suppose to take over and the barometer will start to rise, creating your post frontal conditions. Bass will be holding tighter to cover as the day wears on today and tomorrow. A slower, more deliberate presentation is in order.
