White said spinnerbait lures are usually much larger than spreader bars. One example of spreader bar that White makes and sells is 48-inches wide with multiple lures attached to it.

Spreader bars are typically a bar with a lure attached to it, in various configurations. Only one lure typically has the hook in it, White said.

Something sounds mixed up in this article when she quoted White.

Anyhow, what is the reason behind spreader bars being illegal? And I wonder what the wording of the regulation regarding prohibition of the use of spreader bar.

with a little more digging I found a pic of the "spinnerbait" he was using, which is basically a homemade Alabama rig....will be interesting to see how this pans out.

also, in another article, they weighed the fish like 5 times and never went under 68# by the time the Arkansas game and fish ran them around the fish spit up so many shad it weighed 58# and change...... it is unfortunate for all involved.

here is the article I mentioned earlier..... you have to hit "next" to view all 12 paragraphes of the story. The bassmaster story is a good one too.

If someone shows me his lure, I would call it a mini Alabama rig. I would not call it a spinerbait.

thats what it looks like lol a mini alabama rig....which looks pretty awesome haha

while it does look more like an a-rig than spinner bait, I find it being classified a "spreader bar" a stretch. IMO

it will be very interesting going forward because there is no doubt A-rig type lures catch huge prespawn fish.....wonder over the next decade or so how many records will not be changed because a person used an Arig?

LOL, it still wouldn't solve the AG&F not getting off their ass and certifying the weight.
