Strike King Red Eye Shad

Featured Replies

I love the way this thing casts, swims, feels, and sounds! I bought two, both 1/2oz, one chrome with blue black; the other in baby shad.

this bait has been my favorite lipless crank this season. One thing i have noticed is that it performs better when ripped with the rod going up and down vs side to side. The latter tends to tangle the hooks.

Also a favorite for me this season. Gold sexy shad is awesome. I like to use a sweeping technique.

I've caught a lot of fish on their Japanese shad color this year.  I still prefer the xcaliber lipless baits though.

The RES is my favorite lipless crank. I have a few 1/2 oz versions but I mostly fish the 1/4 oz version (which actually weighs about 3/8oz). Good action and casts like a bullet. I usually upsize the hooks on the 1/4oz version from #6 to #4. I use mostly soft plastics in the summer but I did well with the RES earlier this year. I just sorted my "catch log" and it shows that, using the RES, I caught 151 fish - 105 LMB, 40 rainbow trout, and 6 misc (perch, brim, crappie, and a 37.1lb grass carp!).

Japanese Shad has been a great color for me, I've also done very well with the Mojarra color.

KVD won the classic with it.  Seems to be noticeable differences in the retrieve of different lipless cranks and the strike king has been my favorite so far.

Great bait for sure!  I still think the cordell spot is great too. It's amazing how such similar baits can feel so different!

I have two with rattles, with no results three times out. I want to get the same two but silent and see if they trigger a hit.

They'll trigger a hit if the fish are there.
