Central PA. Lake Updates
I stopped by shy beaver this weekend, water was almost 50 way back in the towards the creek , but was only about 44 off the end of the dock. Water was pretty dirty. Guys I talked to said the water was about the same on the main lake too. A guy caught a 50 inch muskie out of Canoe creek last year. He was reeling in a trout and bam! It was in the paper, I think it was on the first day! Jim

Exclusive interview with Jerry McKinnis - owner of BASS!!
Love the mystery lake idea. I think the first couple of classics were like that. I really think that Jerry will be good for BASS, and I hope everything goes well for him! Jim

Has Fishing Gotten Easier?
I think it might be harder, just from increase in fishing pressure alone. There might not be as many "weekend anglers", but the ones who are out there seem to be better equipped, and have waaaay more oppertunities to gain knowledge on bodies of water and specific techniques. Jim

Raystown Lake in March
Points and steep rock. The steep stuff is usually on the channels. Look for ledges, under 20'. I crank these alot that time of year, bagleys DB3 and Rapala dt20, but last year I got some on shakey heads too. I fish mostly between MM 19 and 26. March is pretty early, Water is still gonna be pretty cold! Good luck! Jim

Is Braid a must?????
I use power pro on a spinning rig for walleye jigging, but I don't really like the stuff. I love the sensitivity, but I don't really care for how it handles(noise, wrapping around the tip and guides). I can cast farther on the same rig with mono. To me, it is just a tool. Even if it's a tool I don't like using, when it works it's great. Jim

What's the big deal about Steeler football? Read on...
I don't know about rape or not, I don't put a lot of stock in an underage girl illeagally in a bar too drunk to even know what was going on. He may be a scumbag, iBut I will be watching the steelers and the cheeseheads sunday.... AND SO WILL YOUR TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least the good people of Dallas can see some good football in that fancy new house. BTW Brady does have an illegitimate child. Jim

Weirdest Thing You've Reeled In
ultralight ugly stick, reel was junk, but the rod cleaned up like new! (it's the wifes trout rod now!) caught a 9/16 craftsman wrench on a crankbait once. Hooked it through the box end! made repeated casts in case there was a whole tool box there but no luck! Jim

Shad Raps
If I could only have one crankbait, a balsa shad rap would be it! I have caught a lot of fish on the shallow shad rap in the smallest size also, from bass to walleye, striper and big brown trout! I also like the jointed shad raps too, but haven't used it as extensivly as the others! Jim

What do you tell the "Hunter"
I release 99% of the bass I catch, but I do eat whatever I keep. I tell Hunters it's just like nailing a buck, then he can get up and make more deer. Some people do have that gotta kill it mind set, I don't tell them anything :-) Jim

Pa Meet Up - The Results
We ended up with 6 in the boat. I caught 5, two were keepers, and both of them came on consecutive casts about 50 yards from where we all met up! Both of them hit the red eye right before we left! Dads fish came on the right side going back into trough creek, mine were scattered all over! one on the rocks on the right side going back into aitch, one on the rocks out past the island. the other on the left side going back into trough creek. Dads came of wood, one of mine came off weeds, all the other were on rock banks near weeds, but not right in them. Pictures are coming....... It was really nice meeting all you guys, I thought we had a good trun out, maybe next time it won't be cloudless skies and 15 mile an hour wind!!! I also couldn't believe the amount of fishermen we saw!!!!! I am spolied being able to hit it through the week after work! Go there on a weeknight, and there is a quarter of the vehicles in the lot! Nate, my dads a trip, he really is! I keep trying to get him to sign up here! Bass fisherjk, We will have to get together and fish canoe creek sometime, wish you guys could have got into some fish!! Thanks Nate and Speed for the good time! Jim

I was out Saturday with my dad, surface temp was 71-72, caught two nice bass, one dink and a 16 inch walleye. I was fishing up towards shy beaver. Good bit of boat traffic, but it was really nice. if there is any weather at all it should knock the traffic right down. Stripers are starting to bust the top at dusk, but we didn't see any. My friend finished 8th in the big open striper tourny a week or two ago, he had 31 pounds. We could get some walleye, striper, muskie, great thing about that lake, you just never know! A lot of guys have been doing good in the weeds, but our fish saturday were coming of rock with a channel near by, (one creek channel, two on the river channel with some wood) I am pumped for this guys!!!!!! Still have an open seat if anyone wants to come! Jim
