The end all thread
Best advice I've ever recieved, "take the money you have for gear and buy gas for your boat." Time on the water will make up for less than top notch stuff. Jim

Raystown
Think about some bigger swimbaits too Nate. Storm baits in the 4-6 inch range have worked for me. There is a lot of nice water to fish from a small boat on that lake. Coffee run, shy beaver, aitch, plus the top end above the weavers falls boat launch (thats a little more river up there though!)

I would be up for fishing too, I can haul one other person too! (15' ebbtide 40hp) should be great about then. I feel the odds would be good for someone to nail a tiger too! Jim

Strike King Red Eye Shad
Great bait for sure! I still think the cordell spot is great too. It's amazing how such similar baits can feel so different! Jim

What was your personal best caught on?
1997 end of april, 7.12 on a 7 inch original rapala. Shame on me for skipping school! Jim

Heddon torpedo
I always liked the crazy shad better, if I want a bigger bait. the littlest one is a great lure on smaller rivers. I have used a bunch of different colors, and they all work! Jim

Lure Retrievers
My dad made the one I use a long time ago.... maybe 87-88. He bent a coat hanger around a piece of dowl, to make the spirals that the line goes through. He dug a small hole about 3/12in long by an 1in wide poured melted lead into the hole and held the hanger in place till the lead set. (think about a spinnerbait with the skirt bieng lead and spirals where the blade should be). he also has three little brass chains coming out of the bottom, about four inches long or so. tie about 30 or so feet of cord to the wire and there ya go. since we have used it, I can only think of two lures we couldn't get back. Shad Rap
Moby, I have heard the same thing, but it always seems like the shad rap worked for me in the colder water. I do fish them slow in the spring, i like to bounce them along steep rock banks. By all means, this is just what has worked for me! I do throw them all year long however, just adjust the size to match the forage size. Jim

What did you catch your personal best on?
Mine was in a small pond, march, 2000. For some reason, i didn't right the day in my log. 25 and 1/4 almost 6 on my scale. 7in floating rapala gold w/ black back. It was in the evening, almost dark. Jim

Shad Rap
The shad rap has a lot tighter wiggle, and I think in the cold water, the bass react to that wiggle better. You can feel it when you are reeling a bait in. Throw a fat rap, then throw a shad rap on the same rod. You can "feel" the wider wobble on the fat rap, shad rap has a tighter pulse. Jim

Cotton cordell crankbaits?
Spots are my go to lipless bait. I throw em all the time. I have caught a few on a big O, but not many. The only thing better than a bait that catches fish, is a cheap bait that catches fish! Jim
