on the daiwa T rod (and any other rod with the aluminum locking hood), stand the rod up on end and push down on the reel as you tighten down the hood. doing this, you should be able to turn it another 1/16th or 1/8th of a turn and really tighten it up.

 Lews are pretty realible..I have one of their rods and reels..great combo...great for the money too

Anyone have the BB1 series? Thinking of getting one for crankin. Never had an original but had a BPS David Fritts which employed the same concepts. It cast a mile but weighed a ton. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Yup. picked one up not long ago. Cranking is SMOOOOOOTH and yes, it casts a mile.

I dont notice the weight difference myself.
