how do you determine what size swim jig you are going to use? what type of water depth above weeds will you decide 1/4 or 3/8oz?

I use all the way from 1/8 oz to 1 oz.  I normally have 2 or 3 different weights tied on and alternate them until I find the one that works.

I find a 1/4 is a good all around weight, but like jig man said,"you need a few different ones to see what works". I think a little heavier when swimming is better. It allows you to cover more depths and control the bait a little more.

I prefer a 3/8 or a 1/2 for a swim jig.  I'll use a 1/4 when I'm swimming a jig over shallower grass.
