Drop Shot

I just watched a video on the drop shot rig. They say it was first used in California. We been using a setup similarity to the drop shot in salt water for eons. Enuf said.

My question is does everyone just tie the hook directly to the line? Or can we use a short leader on it. Let's say a 6" to 8" leader? I'm thinking a leader would give us more vertical movement. Just a thought. Bb

directly to the line. I think 99% use it like that but hey tinker with it, who knows if you find a great variation to it.

Directly to the line. I've tried with a leader before, but you lose 99% of the action.

I'd say directly to the line. I like the dropshot because the leader can be just long enough to hold the lure above the weeds, and I think a leader to the lure would just make the lure sink down and get tangled up in the sinker's leader.
