Fish Identification

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I am new to the forums and this is my first post so try not to be to hard on me... haha jk. I recently went fishing with my fiance and she caught something on a simple bobber setup and a worm. When I went to help her, (she's terrified of handling the fish lol! but getting better.) I had no idea what it was. The first thing I thought was, a small perch? Maybe a small bass of somekind? Either way, this is probably obvious to a lot of you but to me, I am still thinking its a perch... right? lol. Anyway, thanks guys and I am looking forward to being apart of the forums.

** Sorry for the pic size, its the only one we took.

Awesome, thank you so much. I googled different perches and still was unsure haha. :)

Sorry about that, it would have been a little bit bigger of a picture but I am having trouble keeping quality and size of picture without going over the 150kb file size limit :/

Catch some bigger ones and fry them up.  They are pretty good eating.  They are in the same family as walleye and sauger.

It's not just the size of the picture. That individual fish's colors are somewhat muted.

That is a very very pale yellow perch. I completely understand why you had trouble with it. Just wait until you hook one the size of the ones we catch ice fishing.
