All Star Rods??

Featured Replies

Have any of you guys used these rods?

Thnking about purchasing one before I head out on another fishing trip.

Whats your favorite one???

I used to love All-Star rods before they were outsourced.  They are still decent rods for the price (on sale at Academy a lot of the time) but I would go for a Vendetta over one of them.

I love them. My friend's dad is on their pro team and got me hooked on them. I think that my next rig will be their Team crankbait rod and either the new orra winch or a 4600 C3.

Allstar has 4 price points; Classic (the one Academy pushes), Team, Nano, & Micro.

I bought my grandson, a Team modelwhich is a great entry level.

I believe Academy is the exclusive dealer on All-Star rods. The older American made models were pretty good sticks and then they outsourced and were a different rod but they now have the AST series which are pretty good for the money, a guy in our club has a few and a lot of the other guys are liking them too.

I don't like the techniques that they recommend on the AST rods though.

I have some in the ASR series before they got dropped.Great feeling rods with good balance and power. Great rods IMO ! Now i am mainly using lamiglas rods. Made in USA

Yea I was confused 6'8'' for jig/worm fishing but a 7'3'' for crankbait fishing...

I like the cranking stik, not necessarily the length but the action. I like having a little more length on a crankbait rod so that you can really throw them out there, but 7' is really as big as I need. I hate how the Carolina rig rod is a 7'mh, while the jig rod is a 6'6m. The micro rods have the best techniques in my opinion though.

I will look into purchasing the one of the micro series.

The micros are the best don't get me wrong, but I was just saying that the technique recommendations are the best. But you know how to fish, and you know that technique recommendations aren't important. I would say that you would be good with anything from the AST's through the micros. Have you checked out the ethos rods?

It's the best rod you'll find under $75. Everyone loves them, just search them in the forums and you'll see what I mean.

Don't just decide based on what we say, they're both good rods so just decide what you think feels better.

I went and tried it with some of the baitcasters that I own...I didn't like the feel. I tried it ,but still couldn't get the comfortable feel I wanted. I ended up changing the reel, but the one that felt awesome with it wasn't in my price range.

So i may have to just wait until the latter time to purchase both.

Until next time, Keep lines tight,

Agree

I've had my ASR jig rod for years and wouldn't use another.
