Flipping/pitching Gear Question

Featured Replies

Got two questions for ya here:

1. Quantum Smoke or Okuma Helios...I really like them both, and their seems to be wayyyy more reviews of the Smoke, so it's been hard to compare them.

2. Going to pair the reel with a *** *** Black, but, should I go MH or H? Mainly fishing docks, and moderate to moderate-heavy brush. Occasionally hydrilla.

Actually lets make that 3 questions. Braid size. Not sure what pound test, I would like to have as much line on the reel as possible (The Helios doesn't have the best capacity either IMHO)

Thanks for the help!

Med Heavy Extra Fast...65# ;)

^^^ 65 lb braid is great, and if your fishing a long stretch of docks and you feel the water is clear, spend the minute and tie on a FC leader. Otherwise do the "ISH MONROE BOMB TECHNIQUE"

I fish a smoke on a *** 7'3" Heavy for pitchin. 65# braid works great on it. It is a great combo! Highly recommend it.

@Catt, most likely that will end up being the solution, nice choice!

@The Young Gun, I do fish in pretty clear water, preferred flouro brand?

@Drewski, glad you like it! Do you think I should get the 7'1" or 7'3"?

Don't waste your money or fluro braid, spool a full spool of the 65lb braid then buy a leader FC like seagaur red label an just attach leaders as needed. Then you won't waste as much overall line compared to retieing on one spool over and over. I've used 2'-12' leaders all work fine..

65lb braid, Heavy action, and smoke.  Oh, and forget the flouro, just go straight braid.
