All The Way From Norway

Featured Replies

Hello, I live in the west coast of Norway but I am not norwegian, that's why I post in a english speaking forum.

I have been trying mainly spinning fishing, with lures between 10 and 40 g, (1/2 - 1 1/2 oz?).

I also tried some plastic worms from berkley and I really enjoyed it and it seemed also more productive than lures but I also lost lot of gear due to rocks and weeds. I use around 40 - 50 g weights to keep the bait on the bottom.

What type of rig would you suggest to avoid getting tangled every second cast?

The species I target are in the cod family so I need some depth, it is also very windy in the area so casting capabilities are an issue as well.

welcome ... well  I don't know what other baits you are using or how your rigging your soft plastics.. what kind of soft plastics, worms, liziards, craws?

also what is  weather like there now?  see if you can get your hands on some top water baits. A good entry level top water bait is called a hula popper or a buzz bait.

now if you want to use soft plastics, try hooking your soft plastic texas rigged style look that up on youtube if you don't how.. also I would suggest using no weight just you hook and slowly reel your bait in once you let it sink for a few seconds..

when you get a chance read the beginner articles on here

good luck

Welcome!  Where do you live in Norway?  I had the pleasure of living in Stavanger for a couple of years back in the early eighties.  Norway is a beautiful country and the people are wonderful.

That's where I live as well! Which type of fishing did you enjoy while you were here?

Sorry to say, I wasn't into fishing back then, although I did a lot of trolling, if you get my drift.  I must say, the natives were VERY friendly.

Have the DUI laws changed any?  When I lived there, if you had three beers you were over the limit and if you got stopped, it was 21 days in jail and loss of license for a year on your first offense.

Now it's 1 beer the limit. Driving over 40% the speed limit also means jail. Well, their country their rules, I just have to respect them.
