We need to know where you are putting in and can your boat go from dam to dam.

Too many places to fish on Gaston to give you specific places to fish but we may be able to give you some guidance on baits.

Do you have any idea of the water temperature up lake, middle of the lake and down lake? Very important.

Many leaves and grass floating on the lake now?

Let us know and there a number of guys who can give you some help.

BigBass, I just read Stan Cobb's (Green Top) fishing report in Friday's Richmond Times-Dispatch and here is what Stan wrote about Lake Gaston:

Bass are starting to move shallow in lakes Anna, Gaston and Kerr. Look for defined channels in the backs of creeks to turn on as baitfish migrations take place. Topwaters, lipless cranks and shallow cranks are excellent early fall search baits.

So go out and throw your search baits and topwaters.

Have fun and good luck. And of course, let us know how you do. Post some pics.

We have a weekly fishing report from Charlie Taylor on the Lake Gaston Guide (www.LakeGastonGuide.com) with water temperature and lake level along with other lake information. Here's Charlie's advice for this week...

Riprap along roadways and bridges are good spots to fish, with topwater prop baits, plastic worms and grubs. The lake is cooling and the fish are moving into shallow water. Lipless rattling crankbaits, plastic grubs and spinnerbaits are all good lures. Use small willowleaf blades on spinnerbaits, as the shad in the lake are small. Topwater action is red hot in and around the uplake grassbeds.

Striper action is sporadic with a few being taken every now and then. Lots of stripers are breaking the surface, but not on a regular schedule.
