I recently was given a NIB Abu Ambassadeur XLT Plus.  This is the black reel with the old Abu logo that looks similar to the 521 series.  This reel has the separating levelwind that reconnects on the retrieve after the cast.  What could a new one be worth?  It looks like it is from the early/mid 1980s.  Thanks for any help.

A quick search of sold listings on E-Bay Shows a NIB selling price of $40 - $50. 

 

I'd clean & re-lube it and use it. They are great reels for tossing cranks and traps.

Anywhere from $80-100 for a NIB. I own that one and the 521, been in my possesion since the mid 90´s, when properly cared they last a lifetime, mine are still in use.

I have seen the XLT Plus for 40.00 on ebay. The splitting levelwind was one of Garcia' biggest problem reels...

The only problem is there are no parts or support for the splitting levelwind anylonger...

Also the reel/s were never intended to be used with no stretch lines.
