Bomber Fat Free Shad baits

Featured Replies

As of late I have been on a buying spree of Bomber Fat Free crankbaits. I have purchased all sizes. The Fry,the Guppy, the Fingerling and lastly the largest of them all,the shad. The only size I havent bought is the Shad Jr.

2 of the Fat Free Shad cranks I have are suspending models. A similarity those 2 share is that they have fluorescent orange eyes, while the others, that arent suspending models. have more regular, natural looking eyes.

Is this a orange eye color on these baits something thats specifically on the Suspending models only?

Im wondering because as I scout Ebay I sometimes find a seller with a Fat Free Shad listed, but they dont mention if its a suspending model or not.

Is the eye color a dead giveaway as to whether its a suspending model or not?

I'm not sure about the eye, but my suspending fat free fingerlings have the word suspending in red near the rear hook loop.

They might be the best line of cranks out there is all I can say.

Suspending models have red eyes. Also the Bill Dance signature is in red writing as well.

Ive also noticed that the rattle sound is different between the suspending models and the regular Fat Free Shad baits. Anyone else notice this? Why might this be?

IMO, they are just inconsistent in product with these baits. I have several FFS in the suspending models and they do have different rattles in them, not only comparing the non suspending to suspending models. Some have a deeper rattle sound to them, some are louder and some are just noisier. I used to wonder why as well.

I guess just keep fishing them and maybe you'll find out which rattle type they prefer on your water.

I buy nothing but Bomber, but the company kind of ticks me off that they change colors and designs all the time. Lost a sweet bomber crankbait this year and cannot find the color. It was a rainbow color design, if anyone finds a store that carries them please hit me up with a pm immediately.

A lot of the Excalibur series baits had some really nice colours that they no longer make. If you try eBay, you might find what you are looking for.

Type in "fat free" and filter your search on the left side to outdoor > fishing.

I found a few, but I'm not sure if you are looking for these.
