Revo Stx Or Lews Speed Spool???

Tough question, they are both great reels. First, have you physically, palmed and get a feel of each reel? Silly, question I know, but believe it or not, some anglers do not do that first. 2nd, have you placed the reel on the rod you intend on using? That helps you get a feel of the reel and rod's  balance. I enjoy both of those reels, and each of them serves me differently. Your decision, will be rendered based on the answers of question 1&2, imho.

Between the stx and the speed spool id pick the stx. Both are quality but I think the stx has more features that makes it more appealing. My only experience is with the gen 2 so im not sure about the third gen stx.

The lew's speed spool is the $99 model, so the next revo stx will be your better option.

I don't like the mag breaks on the SS

i have the speed spool and it is a good reel.  i have the 7:1:1 and it's a BURNER, very very fast on IPT.  i like it, can't speak for the STX, but they are quite a bit more expensive i believe.  i bought my speed spool at Dick's with a 20% coupon i found online so ended up getting it for like $80+tax....

I have both and like both but I tend to use the Lews more, no specific reason, just a personal preference.

I have both and I like both. If I buy another one it will be the one I get on sale.

  • I like the STX. Its just a preference. Hell, I still use a 40 yr old 33 about a 1/4 of the time.

not quite sure why your comparing those 2 unless you can get a killer deal on the stx, i have a 3rd gen stx and a lews bb1..i love both reels.. youd have a better comparison with the lews tournament pro vs the stx...
