how do you guys fish these? im new to poppers so dumb it down as much as possible haha. thanks!

That will work, sometimes.

What works more often is instead of a jerk on the rod to pop it, try a fast pull. You want to make the bait "spit" water in front of itself. Do it correctly, and you can make a Pop-R spit water a foot or more. It just takes a few minutes of practice to get the hang of it.

Both of the above methods work for me but I get more hits using Catts method. Probably better for reaction strikes in clear water.

Not too long on the pauses for me also.

I also use catts method.  I have found that you are most often getting reaction strikes and in my experience using poppers, the reaction usually comes shortly after the cast and the first jerk of the rod.  Make sure you have your slack in after the cast and pop away.

Exactly right. Couldn't have said it better my myself.

Walking the dog with a Pop-R takes some practice. But, sometimes that's just what they want. Adding a split ring to the eye of the bait helps.

for me I was taught twitch twitch pause and then as I gained confidence I modified, sped up, slowed down made them bloop or spit till i found what the fish were after. The pop-r or variations thereof can be very effective just spend a little time doing it and you will learn to love them. I would advise waiting a second or until you feel the fish before setting the hook. you will have to be patient and not set as soon as one blows up on it. I have had them miss it a dozen times before actually getting the bait.
