Well, the title says it all. I need a rod for around $100 to pair with my recently acquired Pflueger Patriarch. I would like something that I can throw a variety of stuff on. But I'll be throwing a lot of small cranks, some spinners, and the occasional soft plastic. I'm kind of interested in St. Croix, but am open to any suggestion. Thanks.

I have my patriarch spinning reel paired with a 7' st Croix inshore rod I use it mainly for frogs.

Before I went to 7' I had the mojo bass rod but I didn't have my patriarch then

Well we all are on board with some sort of St Croix I would go with the Mojo Bass rod.

How you like the patriarch? I had an abu Garcia Orra and before that I had a pflueger presidents and I missed my president so I had to buy the patriarch. I've only had it for less than a week got into some nice fish I love the reel

I just got the Patriarch right before I started this topic, so I haven't gotten to use it yet. But I like the feel of it.

i have a mojo bass spinning rod and recommend you spend the extra $20 to get the premier. US made and just a bit better of a rod. ill be buying one soon enough

You will love the reel it's smooth and not to mention it looks good too lol. But when you get out on the water you will see what I am saying.

The difference between the premier and the mojo is nothing more than the full cork handle rather than the split grip and the associated reel seat and being made in the USA.  All other components are the same.

 

Personally i would either look for a used Avid or save a few more dollars and get a rage series which is the same blank as the avid for a few bucks less.

6'8" MHxf BPS Carbonlite.

I'd say the 7'3" M *** has a nice overall package (great handle, awesome XF blank) and would be a great deal more sensitive than the mojo bass, I really did not like the feel of the mojo tbh, felt super tip heavy and relatively damp imo.  

 

I'm trying to put a Patriarch spin on my 13 *** right now as a matter of fact, I feel like it would be a perfect super lightweight combo.

I have 2 BPS Carbonlite's and really love them.

I'd sell you my Clarus 7'2" Worm and Jig spinning rod for $85 shipped TYD.  It is a Medium/XF and has been used for everything from small buzzbaits, MirrOlures, Rapala X-Raps, small squarebills, PTL Finicky Ticklers on shakey heads, PTL texas rigged Craw D'Oeuvres and Spook Jrs.  Lifetime warranty OTC - Purchased from bass Pro Shops.

 

I was using it with a Shimano Stradic 3000FJ spooled with 30lb PP on it.

 

I just replaced it with a custom rod.

X2 on the carbonlite. I have a President XT on my carbonlite, 6'6" MH F....I love it.

My 2 cents worth is that the Carbonlite will be the lightest most sensative rod at that price. Which will fit perfect for the light wieght patriarch. Or do what Fly said and get an Avid used.

Since you are talking spinning, I'd go with the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth rod, I assume it will be an all purpose rod so the 6'9" medium, extra fast would be my choice, it handles small lures like a dream yet has more than enough backbone for stuff over 1/2oz and still remain very sensitive, extremely versatile. If you prefer more length then the 7'4" medium power, fast action will work well for you, it has more length and the same line and lure ratings as the 6'9" medium but it has a fast instead of an extra fast action os it will have more flex but should work just as well, $99.95 at Fish USA tackle with free shipping, this is the best $100 dollar rod with a lifetime warranty on the market, but that is my opinion.

X2.  I'm also a fan of the 6'10" MF.  I need a couple more ETs, but $$$ is about nonexistent right now. 

 

I like my *** okay, but prefer the Fenwicks.
