Finding Bass On Allatoona...

Featured Replies

Simple question...this time of the year are the shad and bass in feeder creeks or creeks running out of the lake? I know this may seem like a simple question but I never really see anyone specify. Got whooped last time I went out on Allatoona so I gotta change it up a little for this weekend. Thanks and God bless.

Yessir that's the one. I usually put in at Little River, but I've never actually went down it to fish, usually cut out and hail over to the S-curves and fish. But this time of year people talk about going into creeks to find the fish, but does it need to be a feeder creek or is any creek whether flowing in or out of the lake a good place for them?

From my experience stick to the major creeks on the lake . kellogg , stamp , etc . I have seen shad schooling in pods in the flats so my focus has been on jerkbaits , crankbaits etc . The water temp is still in the mid 70's so the lake is still active . As I am sure you know allatoona is mostly a spotted bass lake . Pick apart isolated cover , rip rap and anything that has current , such as creeks and river channels . I have even had some decent luck near little river . Dont forget now is the time for top water , buzz baits are starting to heat up , when the action dies down a little bit the drop shot bite  will definitely take over . Hit me up sometime we will drown some worms sometime .
