Braid Question

Featured Replies

I just got a deal on some #30 power pro, but the line was made in 2009. It's been in the box and never exposed to sunlight. Think it still will be safe to use?

yea it should be fine like you said its still packaged

Twinkies last basically forever lol

Fine

As everyone else has already pointed out you will be fine using the line. Braid doesn't suffer from the same type of problems as mono, copoly, and fluorocarbon.

Yea but I always run a FC leader, but their not like pike/musky teeth. I wouldn't recommend lipping it like a bass though lol

Do you guys use backing for braided line

I don't use backing and haven't had a problem with the line slipping on the spool.

I'm still fishing with braid I spooled up in 2009. Just flipped it on the spool this year and it's like brand new. Good for another 4 years!

If the spool doesn't have holes in it I will run a backing of equal diameter line.

Use your drag and the line won't break, 30# PP breaks some where around 40-45#.  I'd be more concerned with your knots than the line.

I totally agree with you, knots and drag are every thing to landing big fish.

Biggest difference between a 1# fish and 100# fish is 99#, not being intimidated is the key factor in success, the technique is easy to learn.

Appreciate what you say, but when it comes down to overall knowledge there are many way ahead of me.  I probably rely more on common sense than anything.
