Arbogast Buzz Plug?

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried these yet? http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=arbogast+buzz+plug+video&FORM=VIRE4#view=detail&mid=7E3F268DEDC0F6346C2A7E3F268DEDC0F6346C2A

It looks a lot more versatile than a regular buzzbait which I almost never throw.

I've watched a couple of videos of this one in action and am interested also.  My short experience with a SputterBuzz was very rewarding as far as catching fish, but it was a bear to cast because of wind resistance.  Evidentaly, this not only casts better, it has a body that wobbles vs. just following behind the blade which can be a plus.

My initial thought is to tie on a Torpedo when I want to pause a topwater and go to a buzzer when I want to cover water. Guess this could cover both bases when attempting to establish a pattern.

I have been interested in this as well. Also, I haven't watched it yet but the Bill Dance that came on today and is waiting on my DVR says it is focusing on the Buzz Plug.

They really have to be careful using that name...when I first read that title I thought it said SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. I'll wait here why everyone scrolls up and takes another look.  :eyebrows:

i buying one of those cool looking buzz baits for sure.

I bought one a little while ago. I have not caught anything on yet, but you can spool your reel just throwing it. LOL.. It's pretty cool buzz bait. I am looking forward to throwing it more in the spring.

I bought a couple, they throw a mile, and they have what looks like good action coming back to me, but haven't caught anything yet.

I have one, but have not dedicated much time to it. I typically bring only one rod when I fish. And for the buzz plug you really need a MH or H rod (it weighs close to an ounce). But I love the buzzbaits and I love how the buzz plug floats, so it should be a winner. I will try it out later this weekend and report back.

I have one, but I wish it was about half the size it is.  Weighing in at right around an ounce, it's a big big bait.  It does cast a country mile, but man it's big.  I had a fish blow up on it the 2nd cast I made with it but came up empty on the other end as the fish completely missed the hooks.  Makes a lot of commotion in the water and it's nice to be able to stop and start it without it sinking like a standard buzz bait.

I just checked out some videos I may give it a try.

anyone use it have trouble with it getting snagged? I'd imagine the treble hook would pull in some vegetation or hook onto a pad if you are fishing in heavy pads or heavy cover.

it doesnt have a treble, it has one of those double style hooks. little less snaggy.

you are right I watched the video again and at first I thought they were treble hooks but they are the frog style double hooks. But I would still imagine it would be a pain to fish in heavy cover or pads

It goes over grass ok, pads too. I just won't cast into the very thick stuff if your bank fishing. It might hang up and then you can't retrieve it unless you have thick line. On a boat not a problem.

Funny Lou I was thinking the same thing when I watched the video again. Seems like it's more of a boat lure than bank for the reason you pointed out
