What ever happened to the spidercast reels..I had one when I was younger and from what I remember they were a decent reel

I seen a Mitchell spincast today and it made me think about it

I still have my SC30.

They have long since been replaced by other models.  You can probably find them occasionally on auction sites and our Flea Market.

They may not even compare to the standards of reel today but I just remember it being the greatest thing since Red Diamond Iced tea when I was a teenager. Saved alot 9f lunch money to get it only to have my best friend accidently knock it out of our john boat in a really large pond..not sure how many hours I spent trying to fish it out..lol

There were baitcasting, spinning, and spincast models as well as rods.

I still have a round and low profile version baitcaster and a "Spidershaft" casting rod.

Not exactly top of the line equipment, but they were made to handle superlines at the time.

They all fell apart and so did my Copperheads

Still have a spidercast 2 pc spinning rod i keep behind the seat for spur of the moment fishing.  Doesn't compare to any of my shimano or g loomis stuff but it still serves me well.

Lo, back I the day I thought it was pretty nice.

I still have one of the SpiderMite baitcasters,very small reel for throwing very light baits.Also have 2-6ft spidercast original casting rods also.

Its wierd. I cant even find a mitchell website now. I know they still make reels cause I seen one at academy a couple days ago

Mitchell is part of a much bigger Pure Fishing group, which includes Abu, Penn, Flooger, Shakespeare, and others, and as such they offer many models through all their brands.  While Mitchell has been sort of designated as an entry level line, the 300 Pro looks to be a heck of a reel for around $70.
