OK, you guys are really boring me. I have not been fishing for like 2 1/2 weeks, and was hoping to see some nice pictures, funny videos, or interesting conversations. Somebody needs to entertain me please!

Suck on this Gambler!   P.S. On a t-rigged 6" green zoom lizard, 3/16 bullet weight, 3/0 EWG hook, 50# green braid. Dropped across a canal into some cover, let it dropped, and before it hit the bot

  • I'm in and I will start us off. Got this 19.5", girth was about 11" this morning(sorry about the crappy pic, tape got twisted) on a Texas rigged redshad green flake 7" gambler ribbon tail with a 5/0

  • Color Change: My color choice is determined by how bright it is outside along with the clarify of water. Clear skys and clear water I'll go with a natural color like black/brown/white or black/green/y

So I fished that rod, the lightning, u r right it is a lot stiffer than advertised. It is even more ridged than my Carbonlite. Me likes, so far so good.

I got an hour in tonight. Missed 3 strikes on lizard. Going in the morning. Even if it is 39 degrees.

Today's top times: 9:30-11:30am, 4-5pm.

Here's a topic to chat about...my SO asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him I wanted a bc setup. I don't have one and don't know how to use one for bass fishing so I need suggestions on a good bc reel that would be a good "learner" and not break the bank and what pole to put it on. Thx :D

Revo sx, daiwa lexa 100 or tatula. Good reels for the price. Rods Kistler carbon steel micro guide. For both it should be well under $300 and should last a long long time.

Gator...123456 gave some good recommendations. There are soooo many options it will hurt your head. I just got my first caster, learned on a buddies, and am looking for a rod. You can get good to really really nice rods for 70-100 bucks. I wouldn't spend over that IMO, I looked at the kistler and they are nice, but there are many others too, like the carbon lite, the clarus and fenwick HMX, you will find one that you like. As far as casters LMG will offer his opinion I am sure. Main think I looked for was Aluminum frame, either or or both for the brakes it all boils down to you gonna need to use what you get. It is not that hard to learn if you talk to someone proficient and my buddy showed me the ropes. Thumb on the spool is the key and not throwing with all your might. In all honesty my firend just gave me a berkley lightning and that aint a bad little rod and I picked a 189 dollar reel up for 99 because it was an older model and they are getting rid of it. Just keep eyes pealed on deals

BPS Pro Qualifier, and a Berkley Lightning Shock rod.

BOLO....be on the lookout. Its a term typically used by law enforcement. I havent been fishing and it looks like im not the only one or maybe its just dinks?

Ok so i went out to my regular spot thinking this wind wont be that bad....i was wrong. I got a few backlashes as i casted and the wind picked up. I had to re spool my caster since i got the mother of all birds nests needless to say all the birds were jelious that i made one so purdy. I threw everything i had out there no bites (crankbaits, spinners, frogs, popers) nothing was even looking at it then i changed to my old faithful my senkos. Caught 13 LMB all about 10"-15" and a little guy who thought he was 10lbs at heart. Then this guy hit like a ton of bricks not a bad fight jumped 3 times then decited he didn't want to fight anymore. Then i caught something for the first time in this spot a catfish on a rubber worm i thought it was a little strange i have never caught one with that before. I am going out again saturday hopefully i have better luck. Anyone going out and want to fish together send me a message.

For around $200 you get yourself a Lews ($99) speed spool and a Carbonlite ($80) rod. Since you have a BPS down the street from you. Pair a Revo S, and a MH Carbonlite, and tell me what you think? That set up, accounts for at least 40% of my contest pics. Light as a feather but strong, with back bone.

The Revo S will run you $ 129.00. Any of those two reels are great reels. You may not even want to upgrade down the road either.

Shoot, my favorite combo is an old Abu Garcia Ambassadeur that my dad gave me when I was 12 paired with Silaflex fiberglass rod.  (Let's just say that makes the reel very old)  I can almost cast with this combo as far as my spinning combos.  Not to mention it warms the heart with every fish caught.

What do you guys think of the lower end KVD Quantum reels?  Seems like they would be a great reel for starting out in baitcasting(?)

I just recently learned to use a caster. My first reel used was my buddies quantum energy. He then let me us an old Abu ultra mag I and that is what I been getting most of my practice in with. But I did pick up a newer(than his) energy on sale for $100 bucks. The quantums I have handled are nice. I know folks say the code or code red are decent reels.

I just got a quantum smoke i love that thing and i put it on the new ugly stick GX2 its a great set up i love it

Thank you all! I'm taking screen shots so next time we go shopping I can take a look. It does seem rather complicated. Since I can't fish after work through the winter at least I can figure out the bc at home lol.

Good luck this weekend everybody. We are at the half way point for the month, from the 28 participants we have this month, 18 participants have posted catches, and 10 have not. Yet!  I know the time change and weather changes have affected the fishing this month. Remember.. we have to keep LMG entertained, because he bores easy, ;) so let's have a great weekend and post some catches. I will post either Sunday night or Mon, depending on how many submissions I receive.
