I've always heard they were primarily a summertime bait but I'm curious if anybody uses them in fall.  If you do and have had success with them, any changes you make from the warmer days?

As far as my personal experience, the topwater lures that I use, which include buzzbaits, have been effective down to surface temperatures of around 55°.

Buzzbaits are one of my favorite fall lures.  I fish them pretty much the same as I do in the summer.  I do however fish shad colors almost exclusively during the fall.

I've fished buzzbaits in the Fall with some success.

I don't have as much sucess with a buzzbait after the water temp. drops down, unless you have a couple sunny warmer days, but it wouldn't hurt to sling one around a bit and test the waters.

Water temps here in my part of TN just went into the 60s (63 surface temp as of this evening) and I'm still getting bit with buzzbaits all day (early morning, mid-day, and evening). However, it seems like I'm getting more short-strikes than usual so just tonight I added a trailer hook to my buzzbait and will be slowing down the retrieve a bit. FWIW.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  I've never used buzzbaits much but my normal topwater go to baits haven't produced much all year so I am wanted to give them a try.  Ordered a couple today so next weekend I'll see how they do!

Last Sept 21, 09. on fork put a 10.51 and a 8.19 in the boat on a black 1/2oz Lunker lure. Both were caught after lunch on a bright cloudless day.

Every year my biggest fish comes in the fall and on a buzzbait- I have gotten them as low as 52 degrees on them. they are my 31 fall go to bait-any brand

Only the 1/2 oz buzzbaits work during the Fall.

I like throwing topwaters in the fall. Wakebates especially always seem to do good on them even when the water is in the 50's and slightly below. I usually will slow them down though and throw a few pauses in there. I don't throw a ton of buzzbaits but i would say the same would apply try and find a nice steady slow speed just enough to keep it on top. It will probably help cut down on some of the short strikes.

Buzzbaits are awesome in the fall.  Last year I was catching nice size and numbers of fish on buzzbaits all the way into November.

I fish 11 small lakes (4 to 201 acres) up here on the Cumberland plateau (elevation 2000 ft). We've had a cold spell here the past few days and day-time surface water temps dropped 10 degrees in a week. The low temp tonight is forecast as 36 deg. so no telling where water temps will be tomorrow. We will be warming up in the next few days and I'm hoping that water temps will get back into the 70s...

Buzzbaits have always been best for me in late spring around June, but I don't see any reason they wouldn't work now.

I fished exclusively this evening a buzzbait and did pretty good.  I got some short strikes but ended up with two before it was all said and done.  I read an article that said if bait fish are jumping out of the water to get away, then use a buzzbait.  It worked! 8-)
