does anyone use inline spinners for bass?

Featured Replies

when i started bass fishing i started using some of my bigger trout spinners and they really produce for me! i use roostertails and blue fox vibrax, also mepps. i always see fishermen on tv using offset spinners. i have a black booh-yah but havent used it much. what do you guys like or use? :)

I have a ton of Mepps & blue fox inline spinners...

Number 2 - 5 all produce for me from time to time. Black Fury with a tail is my biggest producer.

I also fish for Pike and the #5 black fury is deadly. 7 fish on 12 casts earlier this year.

yea i think they are wonderful and they seem to be overlooked! can i use a 1/8 ounce spinner on my baitcaster, it says 3/8 ounce and up, but i see people throwing soft plastic about that weight. why does it say not to? (new with baitcasters)  ;D

Backlash City!  IMO Spinning equipment would be better in this situation plus casting would be inaccurate because the rod doesnt get a chance to load because of the reduced weight. This reminds how people often say use the right tool for the job like spinning equipment for skipping. However I must say I just learned how to skip with a baitcaster and its awesome :) so maybe try it out and tell us what happens

Impossible to answer, but a definite possibility. Everyone has different selections. I wouldn't bet the ranch on the store carrying it, so if the store isn't close to you I'd call first rather than make a special trip.

I keep the mepps fury in red #'s 3 & 4 in my "panic box".

One of my all time favorite lures.

In-line spinners ahve been apart of my regular arsenal for years.

For a couple of years I have had 3 main baits and rarely skunked.

1. senkos and the like..  love wacky

2. Chatterbait..  throw the skirt away and a add jerkbait.   Most versatile sinle lure I use.

3.  In Line spinners.  Mepps mainly..  Always produces and I have 7 bass over 7 lbs on these spinners.

These 3 have been simple and effective for me.

so i just looked at a black fury dressed with chartreuse and it rang a bell in my head! i remember this in my dads tackle box and i thought it looked great! so i put it on throw it next to a huge boulder while smallie fishing on a stream and boom!!! a huge smallmouth hit atleast 3 pounds and it took a wild leap and broke my line on the boulder! im now looking to buy a couple of these!

I've had great success on both largemouth and smallmouth (and many other species) with Panther Martin spinners. My "confidence" colors are black w/gold blade, all silver, all gold and firetiger w/gold blade.

If they're good enough for Ike's panic box, then they're good enough to be in mine.

1/2 oz white Roostertail through schools of shad when they're being busted by bass.  Burn it through the school, I think they see it as a runner getting away from the school so they usually nail it.  Make sure you have a good ball bearing swivel though.  1/2 weight is easily used on high speed casting gear.  Try it with a 7:1 gear ratio reel with a medium power/fast action rod.  The hits are usually pretty good.  The only place I have found the 1/2 oz is on Cabela's site.  Most people think they're just for stripers and pike, but LMB love em.  I'm sure smallies would too, but I've never been around them so...

mepps silver aglia #2 or #3 with a white squirrel hair tail. awesome lure, but be prepared to catch the pickerel. and as a side note its kinda cool how mepps still will buy squirrel tails from customers.

Use them all the time. Gold Blue Fox Vibrax or black Panther Martin. They're great for largemouth and smallies.

how much do they pay for one? i have a million!!!!

And don't forget the Snagless Sally, down here in the marshes of Mississippi they are great. The Bruiser and black and yellow seem to do well. An Uncle Josh's frog is tough to beat as a trailer.

X2  I fish these  in the grass and slop and they seem to come out cleaner than a conventional spinner.

rooster tails work great on rivers with smaller baitfish around. any size in white works good
