Hey guys anyone used a brand of epoxy that sets fast and hard. I don't want to buy one that doesn't work like it's supposed to.

Broke a middle eye off a good rod. Don't ask. Lol. If I can get a good sized glob on there I think it will stay.

Fast set epoxy is the wrong way to do this repair. Rod guides are held in place with a thread winding and the epoxy protects the thread and incidentally also bonds everything together. Epoxy finish is thin and slow curing to self level as the rod is turned. Guide replacement is about a $10 job for a rod builder. If this is a nice rod you may want to go that route. If you decide to DIY shoot me an email and I'll direct you best I can.

I just meant Gorilla glue or some brand I could get from walmart. Last brand I tried didn't set fast or hard.

Didn't no they would fix it that cheap though. It's most likely a cheap rod. I just meant good as in I just picked it up from a pawn shop and hadn't even fished with it yet.

It's the second eye up so it's not doing much and it broke off deep enough to hold temporary at least to see if I like it.

Good info.....thats what I'd do and have done. Not to hard to do yourself either but taking it to an expert saves lotta time and money

I've actually looked into building rods before ordered catalogs and did some reading.

Funny last week a friend of mine told me he has all the tools to do it. Bought it all and never did it. Said he had about $280 in it all. Even how to DVDs

And would take $150 for me if I wanted it.

I'd love to have that as a hobby. But I'd never have the money for the blanks. Might do some more looking.

If I could just find them before they stamp a name brand on them they shouldn't be so bad.

Like DVT said I wouldnt go that route. Ive had rods come in for repair where the customer tried exactly what you are suggesting and I had to charge a little more than normal for the repair due to the extra work it takes to get that stuff off the guide and blank so I could properly fix it. I would find you a local rod builder and just have him fix it for you. Do it right the first time.
