Hydro Wave (Electronic Fishing)

Featured Replies

This is a simple question... and it's not. I pretty much just want to see what anyone and everyone thinks about electronic fishing with technology like the Hydro Wave. I've to look around online and on this site and can't find much info on opinions and pros/cons of this technology. Most of what I've find is just who obviously have bought in and think it'd the best. I would also like to hear the other side of the argument as well.... if there is one. Appreciate any opinions and input. Thanks everyone

I've used one for tournament fishing for the last three years. From my perspective, it does help but I find that it's impact in tough fishing conditions, may be overstated.

You're not going to find anything conclusive - everything related to the hydrowave is subjective. If I ever get $400 extra, I'll buy one. Buddy has one on his boat... when using it, I have noticed we get bites a lot closer to the boat. That's my only observation...

In lakes with good shad/bait populations it is unreal when you turn that thing on. It doesnt guarantee you are going to get bit but it does bring the bait up and they do react to it. Now my friend's boat is fully loaded so it wasn't like he bought the hydrowave over an extra gps because he has 4 of them.

You all will see Kevin VanDam hawking the Hydro Wave.

I have no idea if he is part owner or just getting sponsor support or financial income from saying that if you use the Hydro Wave you will catch fish after fish after fish.

I have the original BSX unit from Louisiana. The company that sold out to Hydro Wave.  I use it in tournaments and so far have not seen any improved strike ratios. But it is the original unit and the new Hydro Wave my have better results.

If you want to use it as a confidence builder please do so. Otherwise, I think spending your money on a G. Loomis NRX rod may be a better investment.

It is my understanding that KVD and Jeff Kriet are part owners of the company.
