Hank Parker Setup

Featured Replies

I recently purchased the hank parker set up from WalMart I was looking for a use for it. I was wondering if it would be better suited for moving baits or for a shakey head or dropshot setup. If there is anyone who has gotten it what do you use it for

What are the rod and reel specs?

•7'0" 24-ton graphite medium action 1-piece rod

•Stainless steel guides with oxide inserts

•5:1:1 gear ratio with 6 ballbearings

seems like a moderate action

Sounds like a good finese or light bait set up to me. (Shakey Heads, Drop Shots, Wacky Rigs, etc.)

Being that its a 5.1.1 gear ratio, deep cranks or slow rolling big spinner baits would probably be ideal.

I was hoping to use it for those purposes I think the rod has enough backbone for but also limber enough for a dropshot and wack rigs

one more thing I forgot to mention its a spinning set up

I figuired it was a Spinning combo, since it was a Hank Parker and a 5:1.1.

Sorry I'd thought it was a bc combo.

What would you guys recommend for a spinning set up

Look at my first post on this topic.

I would use it for all techniques for everything within the limits of the rod parameters.  An entry level combination like this is a great tool to learn how to fish before getting yourself confused on technique specif gear.  Learn how to fish with this, then everything will fall into place.  I fish with pretty much the same thing except a higher quality of spinning gear and I've got over 60 years experience.
