December 2013 Bragging Rights Finale

Featured Replies

You may need to slow it down even more. They may not be wanting to surface where you at now. They could be in spawn mode, in which the jigs/senkos/worms/creature bait comes to play. They are looking for easy pickings.

Yeah I hadn't even been throwing the frog at all this is the first time in awhile, I've been having a lot of luck w the crank and senko as of late. Put the pop r on bc I noticed unusuall heavy surface action at my spot and they wanted it my 2 hits came in about 15 min. Im getting decent numbers of fish I just keep catching the 18s!

You are catching the aggressive bulls. The females are going to be down under.

Man they vacated the culverts I was tossing to last week. Only fished for 30 or so, needed to get here to work. hope picking up how to work these jigs is quick and easy lol but the finer things in life never are. This time last year a 1/8-1/4 oz Texas rig with a ribbon tail or rattlesnake did well.

So onto jig question with LMG. Rattle or no rattle? How do you work it, especially in weeds/grass small hops like a trig or dragging in with the rod top(not with the reel)? I got some terminator pro to start. Pumpkin blue with a killer blue zoom chunk is what I was tossing. Also got a couple in junebug, which I am really excited about, and black/blue/purple. I need to find a trailer for the junebug have watermelon incredi craws which I may throw tomorrow.

Oh and LMG I am open to suggestions on trailers, jig brand/style. These were 50% off and had junebug. If you wish pm me any helpful info or do i have to go to UofB lol Lou said he doesn't fish jigs much so he is useless to me on this topic :P

Anybody ever use mirrolure catch 5 on largemouth or peas? I got it for my son, we are big flats class fans, color 808 lol, plan on doing more salt/inshore this year but thought suspending jerk bait 10-12" below surface has to work for the ponds. Drag it over top the grass. Bet snook uses these, diggy how bout u?

Excited we have a new place to fish but disappointed we probably won't get to it until after Christmas ugh! Life is so unfair :D.

Drat..... now Joe is going to break the Century mark and break the braggin rights record.. Thanks Jacob.  :badlanguage: ...... LOL ;)

IF I would have gotten that PIG I lost this week, I could have jumped ahead of all of em. Goin PIG hunting today. :respect-059:  :respect-059: :respect-059:

Had a slow day of work today so I had a chance to go to the park and fish for a while. Blue bird skies, and nice cool breeze from the NE. Made the fishing tough but I managed two decent ones I would say. A 16.5" and 17"  They will help my numbers a bit, puts me at 63". It's taking me a while but I will catch up.  I caught them either using a BPS stick bait or WM seed centipede deadsticking. Not my favorite technique because it requires patience for that slow decent, but none the less it worked today.

UofB, haha. I will be nice and give you my answer here. I don't use rattles. As far as trailers, its experimental. I will tell you that. Sometimes I use the back end of a lizard, or take a Brush Hog(full size) and cut the top off down to the arms, then use that back half as a trailer. Gambler ugly otter, or mega daddy as well. That is all you are gonna get for this site. If you really want some good info, you will have to come to the Dark Side :student:

Yeah think I might take off the rattle. Might try same spot but June bug or different spot same color. Dunno yet.

Believe it or not, I don't go too crazy on presentation when I have used jigs.  I have had more luck on the SK bitsy jigs with zoom split tail grubs. I swim them with very light hops along the ledges in the canals in my neck of the woods.

I saw those. Thought about trying them too. I might my son on to those with his spinning setup. The other ones I like the look of was the gambler, war eagles and fat sack tackle.

Posts are coming few and far between. Looks like everyone is getting ready for x-mas. People will start travelling starting this weekend I am sure.

I want to wish all of you a Merry X-mas. I know its early, but some of you will be leaving soon to visit and be with loved ones. May you have safe travels, and enjoy the holidays with your families.

I'll win this one this weekend and then----> I'm gonna fish for sport again. I feel like I'm missing a little sport as I hook em and keep the rod low and reel them in as fast as I can so they don't shake the hook. After this win, I'm gonna catch and let them run and jump, not caring if they shake the hook. That's more fun that way. I love watching them do their aerobatics acts. It's been fun competing though. God Bless all of the BR team and have a very Merry Christmas. :leisures-and-sports-076:  :respect-059:

Wow, you are declaring your victory speech already. Too funny. After the smoke settles on the 31st we will see who's "King of the Hill".

Jacob you are right about the whole fishing for sport thing, but losing a big one is tough regardless of this competition.

I haven't been submitting any fish for this comp but its suppose to me a good week weather wise and I have from now til New Years Day free to fish whenever. That being said I think I will see what I can do this week! I will do like fstr use to do and put the date on a paper in my photos so people know these are current catches

BUT I will only submit my fish if someone overtakes Joe... I have been secretly rooting for him this whole time even over my fishing buddy DS!

Congrats Joe future BassMasters Angler of the Year!

Anybody hear from Martin yet? I think he is still picking the birdsnest out of his reel. :laugh5:
