Intermittent Operation Livewell

Featured Replies

2001 Procraft pro 185.

My livewells circulate for a while when on constant or timer........problem is that at times when it stops I have to turn it off and or press the circuit button...at times very difficult to keep running.

Any ideas where the problem is?

Pumps? Switches?

Thanks

Chris

Check all your connections.  Make sure they are clean and tight.  A circuit breaker kicking off indicates an excessive load. Could be the wiring.  Could be the pump.  Make sure you have a good ground.  Many wiring problems are with the ground connections.

Are there any relays in the livewell electrical system usually? Or does that vary between models?

I'm gonna drag the boat inside the garage tomorrow if I can get the tractor started..........that means starting the day with very cold mornings for me in the truck for a while.

But after I get it inside I will start tracing the wires after work during the week.

The wiring should be power going into the rocker switch to the timer to the pumps. Do a image search for livewell timer wiring diagram. You should be able to find something close to or exactly what you're looking at in your boat. A digital multimeter is your friend

They can be found cheap at wally world and if you can read DC voltage and ohms you'll be good to go. Really not too difficult.

I own one already but very little confidence in my ability to use it.

But usually with google and inquiries to friends I muddle through.
