So I Took My Reel Apart....

Featured Replies

I have an old Symetre, 2500 FL  (probably 9 years old) that was getting a little rough.

Decided to tear it completely apart for a good cleaning/degreasing.

Got a part that came out of the body, that I have no clue where it goes.  I have a schematic of a newer Symetre, but this part isn't on there.

Anybody able to help me out?IMG_7979.jpg

Also, the little rod in the spring on the bail assembly...any tricks to getting it in right?

Thanks for any and all help, and Happy Holidays.

That piece goes on the underside/back of the reel. It holds the shaft that the gears slide on in place and keeps it from sliding out the back of the reel when you crank.

I don't have a schematic for yours either, but there is a little screw that will hold it in place. It can't install backwards (that I know of). But it's actually quite important to have installed or you might get dicey results when you're cranking the handle.

Been there, done that.

Take a look at the symetre 3000 fj schematic. I think it's the oscillator shaft retainer on the bottom side of the reel. It does hold that shaft in place so it doesn't slide out the back of the reel and fall on the ground. I think it's pn 8988 it will only go on one way, and if its wrong the shaft will slide right out of the reel. That screw does hold it in place. It was a trial and error(mostly error and frustration till I figured it out) but that is what I finally arrived at, and t finally worked.Good luck
