Buying Rod, Need Advice Please
Lots of good rods in that range, I'd definitely opt for one with a lifetime warranty though.

Let's hear the knot advice...

What One Lure Can Always Catch Smallies For You?
This has always worked for me when all else fails.

Are Hard Baits Right For Me?
I fish a lot of the same conditions as you. I fish a lot of hard jerkbaits, like Yo Zuri Pins, and small Xraps. I always have a couple in my bag and use them often. Seems black and orange is the best color in my area, with some sort of ghost color coming in a close second. Jigs make up probably 75% of my fishing while on the river, probably would go back home if I forgot to grab some. I normally use 1/8oz from a local guy, black/blue with a black trailer has been my go-to. Occasionally the smallmouth will be hitting Bandit-style plugs like crazy, i try to keep a few of those in my bag as well. I like the 200 series, the bigger lip bounces off snags better and I fish these pretty slow. All my dad carries is jointed floating Rapalas and rebel craws, and he's hard to top when it comes to pure numbers.

River Smallie Setup
I'd find a lightly used Shimano Clarus for $50 or less and feel better having a lifetime warranty, and a better rod.

Which Tackle Bag?
I've had a few of the backpacks designed specifically for tackle, but have always gone back to regular backpacks. Medium size ALICE pack has been my pick when I'm not going to be carrying enough stuff for an all day trip.

So I Took My Reel Apart....
Yep, thanks guys. Not sure how I missed that.

So I Took My Reel Apart....
I have an old Symetre, 2500 FL (probably 9 years old) that was getting a little rough. Decided to tear it completely apart for a good cleaning/degreasing. Got a part that came out of the body, that I have no clue where it goes. I have a schematic of a newer Symetre, but this part isn't on there. Anybody able to help me out? Also, the little rod in the spring on the bail assembly...any tricks to getting it in right? Thanks for any and all help, and Happy Holidays.

Weirdest Things You Ever Caught (Non-Fish)?
I've caught plenty of turtles....there seems to be an abundance around here.

How Many Rightys Fish Lefty?
My handles always have and always will be on the left side, no matter what kind of reel. I'm just not comfortable with anything else.

Rod Or Reel?
I'm the opposite of the majority here. I spend a lot more on rods than reels. The way I look at it, I'm buying that rod for life, all my rods have lifetime warranties. I've been spending more on reels lately, but I'm much more comfortable putting down a lot of cash on something with a little piece of mind. I do have one exception tough, and that's my catfishing rods. I spend way more on the reels than I do rods there.

Weirdest Things You Ever Caught (Non-Fish)?
I've caught a few snakes, one bat, and the odd piece of trash from time to time. By far the craziest thing I ever caught was a coon though.

Keeping Bass
I personally hardly ever keep bass, but I would never look down on those that do.

Most Sensitive Rod For Soft Plastics
You can get a very nice rod in that price range if you buy used. I can see no drawbacks to buying a used rod if it has a lifetime warranty. I have an older IMX 6'6" Mag-Light that I use for lighter soft plastics that I throw. I bought it for $125 and it's very sensitive in my hands. If you shop around you can find a new Crucial that will fit your price range, and I've had good luck with those as well.

Tackle Book Bags
I've used an old military ALICE pack (medium sized one, no frame) for years.

Santee Cooper Catfishing...
I'm thinking about planning a trip for me and my wife sometime this spring. Anyone able to recommend a good guide?

100 Dollar Spinning Rod Recommendations
I've had pretty good luck with Shimano Clarus rods, although they were the old style. If I were going out tomorrow to buy a medium or medium light rod, I think I'd pick up that Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth rod I've been eyeing at the local fun store.

Confidence Baits
I recently came across these baits and think that the floating birds and draggin heads would work great for some areas I fish. I'm hoping someone on here might know how I could order some without a paypal account. That's the only method I've been able to find online. I figured I would ask here before calling them tomorrow. Thanks (PS...I know paypal is great and makes things easier, but I have no real desire to create an account.)

2013 Improvements
Based on the success I had topwater last year, I'm going to expand my tackle beyond buzzbaits, jitterbugs, and torpedos. The walking and twitch baits have gotten my attention lately, need to get a few of those to try. Until it's weather for those, I'll probably be throwing jigs, flukes, and jerkbaits just like I always have.

Catching Smallies In Creeks
Most people laugh when they see me carrying these, but everyone always buys some after we fish together. You will catch smaller bass too, but I've caught probably 3 out of my top 5 creek bass on these.

First Baticaster...
Already was a fan boy of their spinning reels. Curado felt great in the backyard...longer casts than I expected. I played with it for about an hour and didn't have a single backlash. The braking system on these must be pretty good, all I know about baitcasters is what I learned from the 2 videos stickied in this forum.

First Baticaster...
Hope this lives up to it's reviews.

Bank Fishing In The Dark?
Probably half of my fishing is alone on the bank in the dark.
-
First Baticaster...
Yea I'll probably give it a shot, read many favorable reviews about it in the past hour. Yes, it is NIB. Figure if it's not for me, then I could probably get my money back based on prices I'm seeing used ones go for. Thanks to all. Hoping the rod works out too. I've never used anything from the Loomis crankbait line. While it'll be 90% used for CBs, I'm hoping it'll handle some others here and there. It's kinda a pain to tote multiple rods on a wading trip.

First Baticaster...
I could probably get it for $125. Maybe less if I buy a new Loomis with it.
