Hey everybody- Im looking to get some trailer hooks for spinnerbait&buzzbaits. Most of the baits are 1/4&3/8 oz.

 

What size hooks and brand are you using? Ive seen them run from size 2/0 up to 4/0.

 

I was throwin a spinnerbait last time out,alot of big fish were short striken me but did manage to catch a couple.

 

Any help is apprecieated ,

 

 

I like the 3/0 size

2/0 Gomakatsu trailer hook .......cant go wrong

I use 1/0 and 2/0 strike king tour grade ones you can buy at Walmart. They have molded plastic over the eye so you don't have to mess with sliding on any rubber tubing.

I use the 2/0 strike king ones from Walmart. But I take the black tubing off and slide the hook on then put it over. I like my trailer hook to be free floating and moving. Just a confidence thing I guess.

I'm using strike king and gammys in 2/0.Be careful when landing the fish, a sudden head shake will have you hooked on the trailer. My thumb has been cut open several times because of this.

On those sizes I use the 2/0. If I would increase size like 1/2 oz too slow roll the bottom then I would goto the 3/0. To give you a generic answer as big as you can go without affecting the less action off desired profile.
