Help With A Hook

Featured Replies

I am looking for hooks like these. It has to be side eye. I have found many but none in 3/0 thru 5/0.

Some call it a scud hook, it goes by many names.

Any help is appreciated.

That is a snell hook.

I have not seen that hook style in any sizes larger than 2.

The only similar hooks in larger sizes are jig hooks with some extension before the eye offset.

I don't know what you mean by "side eye." That looks basically like a straight shank hook with the eye bent downward about 45°.I agree that's the type of hook that gets snelled. To me, a side eye would be of the type that comes with keeper hooks, like the one shown here.

Here it is by owner and they come in 3/0 thru 5/0 but I don't want to pay for the additional hardware that it comes with it.

That is different than the snell hook you posted a picture of.

That hook is a flat eye jig hook without the lead head. The Strike King Denny Brauer jig has that hook style.

It is used in a Do-it mold for making jigs.

Check the Jann's Netcraft web site. That is a source for making lures and they carry those hooks.

I just got the 2014 catalog yesterday.

I made my own with a regular EWG worm hook and texas rig my plastic, works just as well as the expensive, premade version.
