Hey everyone I am currently looking to purchase a new finder I was looking at the elite 5 lowrance but I dunno I want something with DSI.. Any great ideas would help, or hey whatever Finder you have an love. It will be for my counsel an my running finder but any ideas would be helpful thanks guys

2D sonar--traditional sonar

Down Imaging/Down Scan-- vertical imaging sonar

Side Imaging/Structure Scan--sideways imaging sonar

GPS

GSP/ Mapping

Gander mountain has a HUMMINBIRD798ci HD Si unit on sale for $650 on their website. it's normally $1,050.

$650 doesn't seem like a bad deal for gps, 2d sonar, down scan, and side imaging

I just got mine hooked up last week and I believe it's gonna be great. It really has a whole bunch of options especially for a 5" unit!

You can get the 598si HD that is the same as the 798 except it has only 1 sd slot. Same size screen, unit size, etc.... Its a bit cheaper than the 798

The 598 does not have the three short cut View buttons that the 798 has, It is not linkable to another unit like the 798 is, and it comes with a basic background map whereas the 798 comes with some contour mapping called ContourXD.

The display is the same, and the sonar functions are the same.

 

Additionally both units are discontinued and being replaced by the 698ci HD SI Combo for the 2014 model year.
