Dek-It (Fixed) Or Ram Mount?
I just purchased an HB 859 for my bow and the sales person made a point to explain how the ram mount also works as a shock absorber for the unit. Made a lot of sense to me.

What Sd Card Are You Guys Using In Your Hb's For Marking Waypoints?
I use the SanDisk 10 SDHC in mine. If I remember correctly I had to go in the settings and turn on snapshot after I installed the SD card.

Positioning Boat. Running Trolling Motor
I just purchased my fist rig this past fall and I refused to use a seat of any sort on the bow so I could establish a decent pair of "sea legs". My wife had a pretty big time watching me stumble all over the front deck on the first few outings.

New York And Kentucky Fishing
I live in Bowling Green, Ky and Barren River Lake is about 30 minutes from a really nice 4 Lane ramp they built a few years back. I believe the lake is a little over 10,000 acres. Nolin River Lake is about the same distance as well. Good luck and safe travels.

Your Occupation To Buy Your Fishing Arsenal
A Class III waste water treatment plant operator. A large portion of my job is to monitor/protect the down stream waters of which we discharge our treated water. This gives me the opportunity to spend time learning how sport/bait fish will act with different levels of D.O., pH, temperature, etc. Fortunately my life is biased around water!

Just Ordered A 798..
I just purchased this same unit and installed it on a Tracker 175 TXW. I've had it on the water once. The unit seems to work excellent. My original installation of the transducer proved to be a little low so I raised it slightly but haven't had it back out yet. One neat thing about this unit is if you put a SD card in it, it will take a screen shot anytime you set a waypoint.

2014 Ranger Rt178 Or Tracker Txw?
A little off topic but when considering a purchase such great expense. I agree with everyone about going with the Ranger. I own a Tracker TXW myself and I am 100% satisfied but when I was in the market I wanted the comparable Ranger aluminum. Anyway, my recommendation is to REALLY consider getting the 75hp Optimax. There are advantages of having a 4 cycle outboard but most people that I've talked to with the 60hp complain about how sluggish they are when trying to get up on plane. Mine has the 75 and is very peppy when coming out of the hole. A little food for thought!

Finally Got Her Mounted
I am looking at a Talon myself to go on my tracker but I was a little skeptical about the direct transom mount. Does it seem sturdy? You satisfied with it?

Battery Maintenance
Mine also has the red and green light. The books says if both lights stay on together for more then 24 hours that there is an issue with a battery. I've checked them both multiple times and can't find an issue with either. Mine will never show just the green light. I've left them plugged up for 2-3 weeks straight with no apparent issues. Maybe it's an issue with the charger.

Battery Maintenance
I was reading a pervious thread about batteries and it led me to this question. I just purchased my first boat about 3 months ago so I am pretty inexperienced in the consequences of poorly maintaining a battery. My PT 175 is equipped with a Guest 6amp charger and due to a recent cold spell I've been leaving the charger plugged up. I removed both batteries a few weeks ago and topped them both off with DI water, then reinstalled them both. The reason I'm not leaving them out is because about once a month I still get the boat out to do a little crappie or musky fishing. My question is, will my charger overcharge the batteries? How long/often should I recharge the batteries? At what point will I know the batteries are fully charged or a ready to go back on charge? (via volt meter) Any other tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking For A New Fishfinder Any Ideas
Gander mountain has a HUMMINBIRD798ci HD Si unit on sale for $650 on their website. it's normally $1,050. $650 doesn't seem like a bad deal for gps, 2d sonar, down scan, and side imaging I just got mine hooked up last week and I believe it's gonna be great. It really has a whole bunch of options especially for a 5" unit!

Any Sites With Good Lake Maps?
I'm not positive where to find any topo maps online but Wal-mart sells a book that includes every lake in Kentucky. It gives information gatherd by biologist over the past few years. Iabels and rates different areas, creeks, under water road beds. It even shows/rates boat ramps around the lake! It's been extremely handy!

Humminbird 798Ci Si Hd Tech ?
I just picked up my new humming bird unit Monday and I was looking to buy an SD card for it. I was wondering if I could buy a micro SD with the adapter and it would fit/work? By the way if anyone is looking for a good graph, Gander Mountain has them on sale. Usually $1,050 down to $650.

What Keeps You From Going Crazy In The Winter Months?
Loading up on tackle. I'll go out a few times while the lake is at winter pool and search for cover thats normally submerged, take some pictures, record it on my map and try to set a waypoint as close as possible.

Baitcasters- Rh... Spinning- Lh...why?
I HAVE to reel with my right hand regardless of it being a spinning or casting reel. I made myself learn to pitch and flip with the rod in my left hand due to a large percentage of my bites coming from the initial fall and the few seconds it takes to switch hands could cost you a stud!
