Cant Decide Between Two Reels...

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting either another Lews tournament Pro or the new BB 1 Pro. The 6.4:1 TP that have now is currently on a Dobyns SS 734C with 50lb braid that I use for all my heavier stuff, jigs, frogs, 10" weighted Trig worms, etc. I'm thinking about picking up a 7.1 put that on the SS 734C and put the 6.4:1 TP with maybe 30lb braid on the new Dobyns 703C which is going to pretty much be my go to set up, trigs, senkos, spinnerbaits,flukes...

So what do you guys think which one of these reels and at what ratio?

Of the two I would go tourney pro 7.1:1. It's just so versatile and a proven platform whereas I feel the bb1 is more geared for cranking.

For rods, I would use the champ line for bottom contacts for better sensitivity and use the savvy for spinners and frogs. 7.1 on champ, 6.3 on SS. I'm not the best with pairing multiple combos tho, so someone else will probably have a better idea.

I would also get the TP in your options, but outside the options you gave I would get the Lews super duty in the 7:1, it is a workhorse of a reel.

I'm about to buy my fifth Tournament pro. It is by far the best reel, period.

For what you want to do i would go with the TP. I have one and i use ir for a ton of different things. The BB1 pro is awesome in its own right!

I've got both and i'd go with the BB1 pro in 7.1

isn't the BB more of a power reel?
