To Heavy Of An Action?

Recommended Posts

I have a St Croix LTB in 6'8 mh fast that is rated for 1/4-1 ounce? This is my jig and Texas rig rod I want to start getting into flipping and pitching techniques this year and have a St Croix mojo bass swimbait rod in 7'8 h fast rats to 1-4 ounce and was wondering if I used this rod to pick up at the 1 ounce point in my rigs and use it for flipping and punching? Would it be to much rod for that? Let me know what you guys think

Tight lines

You will be fine. I use the same rod for punching and like it. Its nice to have the backbone to pull a 5lb bass with 10lbs of weeds to the boat. I also really like the long handle on it. For me, it makes it easier to punch all day with those heavy weights.

I think that rod should work great for that application, they also make a good frog rod for the slop.
