Swimbait Guide In North Ga?

Recommended Posts

So I've been thinking about a trip up to north ga for some swimbait bass southern trout eaters style and was wondering if any of you guys have any info on a reputable guide who is known for swimbaiting and catching nice bass doing it. I've already got mike bucca and randal Kirkpatrick. on my shortlist but any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

hey man, to start i dont think i'm going to be much help on finding you a guide, but more curious on where exactly you might mean by north georgia?  i guess specifically what lakes you'd be talking about?  perhaps burton, rabun, chatuge or hiawassee?  i ask because i intend on doing some of this same type of fishing this year, i grew up around the north georgia, north carolina border so i know the areas.

I was thinking allatoona chatuge or burton but nothing really set in stone or anything. I'm open to any locations really above atlanta.

you might look hard at rabun and burton.  they are a ways away, north of atlanta.  however, both lakes are well known for having some monster trout in them.  i think you'll do better there on some spots rather than lmb but if i'm not mistaken the state record spot is still from lake burton and was over 8 pounds.  not to mention that lake is not all that big so fairly easy to "navigate" so to speak not to mention the scenery around is fantastic!

just googled and confirmed that state record spot from burton.  Also, another lake that's in north georgia, more towards south carolina, is lake jocasee (sp?)  i don't know much of anything about it, but another one to check out

have any of you fished lake unicoi in helen? I believe they have trout up there but, last time I was camping there our dog ran a skunk in our tent and things ended early.
