Do You Know Of A Boat Compartment Lid Replacement Source?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of source to get a compartment lid replacement fabricated?

I have one small lid that has been cracked across the top and I would like to replace it when I recarpet the boat soon.

Thanks

Chris

Why not reinforce it and lay fiberglass yourself, its not hard at all. Brace it well(aluminum square tubing), glass the underside and paint it, carpet the top and no one will know. Could make your own out of a product like starboard too.

Have you called the manufacturer? Otherwise take a look into fishonfabrications.com. He does a lot of custom aluminum boat mods, and I'm pretty confident he could whip you up an aluminum replacement.

Alas.......another pitfall of owning a boat from a manufacturer that is no longer.......Procraft.

I will take a peek at the site you posted and weigh that with repairing it myself what Hoffman recommended.

Thanks y'all.

I cheated......I had my fiberglass guy repair the lid. He beefed it up..it is way stronger than it was....I was thinking about keeping in the house by the bed to use for self defense! But it was kind of in the way with all the guns, knives, baseball bats and flashlights.

Will get it recarpeted with the boat recarpet project starting this weekend .

Looks better for sure. I still would add a brace, its the flex that made it crack.

That's a good idea. I'll keep that in mind when I need some procraft parts.

Thanks.
